Professor Albert C. H. Yu is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hai Kang Life he oversees all strategic planning and development of our Hong Kong and China operations and is the driving force for implementing customer-oriented strategies. Prof. Yu is a well-known scientific conference organizer, neuroscientist and biotechnology entrepreneur, active in numerous cross-cultural and industrial communities in Hong Kong and China. With a global network and an expanding base of established contacts in China, Prof. Yu has been an important facilitator of dialogue regarding the development of biotechnology in Asia.

Dr. Terence L.T. LAU, BSc (Hons), MPhil, PhD, DipM
Chief Operating Officer and General Manager

Dr. Terence L.T. Lau is the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Hai Kang Life and oversees day-to-day operations and business development of the company both in Hong Kong and China to maintain our commitment to excellence. Since 1997, he has been the founding member and key executive of two Hong Kong biotechnology companies specializing in DNA-related products and services and has developed and executed a number of biotechnology projects.

Dr. Sonia Y.H. YANG, BSc, PhD
Project Director

Dr. Yang graduated from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science, focusing her PhD research in ecology and evolution. She possesses sound knowledge in molecular genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular ecology, conservation biology and skills in biotechnology, and has also mastered knowledge in psychology and education.

Dr. Jenny LU, BSc, MSc, PhD
Assistant to Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Jenny Lu obtained her Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium and is a registered pharmacist in Belgium. She specializes in molecular pharmacology and has extensive experience in the research of the metabolism of drugs. Dr. Lu has been heavily involved in numerous national and provincial research projects in China, and headed the laboratories for many of these projects. Prior to joining Hai Kang Life, she was an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Dr. Jerry R. CHEN, BSc, MSc, PhD
Assoicate Project Director

Dr. Chen graduated from ShanXi University with a BSc in Biochemistry. He completed his MSc in the field of Radiobiology at the China Institute for Radiation Protection, where he worked as an assistant professor. Dr. Chen graduated from the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a PhD in Physiology and has strong interest in cell biology research.

Dr. Patrick TAM, PhD, CEng, MIMechE, MIEE
Project Manager and Senior Research Engineer

Dr. Tam graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a PhD in Control Engineering. As a Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council, UK) by profession, he possesses industrial consultancy and research experience in engineering analysis, mechatronics, and feedback control systems. Prior to joining HKDNA, he has been a Visiting Lecturer in Product Mechatronics and Applied Control at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is now responsible for the development of Lab-on-a-Chip technology.

Michael H.K. HUI, BSc, MSc
Laboratory Manager

Mr. Hui specialized in the research of the effects of transgenic algae on fishery. He possesses extensive experience and skills in biochemistry and molecular biology and is now responsible for overseeing routine laboratory operations and managing the various molecular testing services at Hai Kang Life.

Linda X.J. XU, B.Eng, M.Eng, MSc
Research Engineer

Ms Linda Xu possesses sound knowledge in medical image information restoration, stochastic modeling on bio-regulatory system study.  Her research interests are in biomedical image processing, bioinformatics and gene chip design. Currently she is a member of the Hai Kang Life lab-on-a-chip project group to develop gene chip image processing programs. Miss Xu holds two master degrees in Bioengineering and Biomedical engineering.

Dr. Ying ZHANG, BSc, PhD
Research Scientist

Dr. Zhang specializes in genetics research such as functional genomics and genetically modified maize and has extensive knowledge in molecular genetics, cell genetics, plant cell engineering, enzymology and protein chemistry. She is responsible for the research and development of a series of kits such as veterinary diagnostics, clinical diagnostics and food molecular testing kits.
